I have always loved crafts of all different shapes and forms. I love the feeling of fabric running through the sewing machine or creating a piece of jewelry. I have been creating handmade apparel and accessories for about 15 years now! My brand, Whimsy by Krista, came to be in 2009 when I began creating flower hair clips and ribbon-wrapped flower headbands for a few children's boutiques in Tennessee and Florida.
My small business continued to fuel me as I worked my way through college at O'More College of Design in Franklin, TN. My last two years of college, I designed, illustrated, produced, and styled five-piece and ten-piece collections that were selected to show in the annual Eloise Fashion Shows. My senior year, I was honored to accept the "Eloise Award", a people's choice award determined by the amount of votes at the end of the fashion show.
After college, I moved to Orlando, Florida and worked for Walt Disney World in a very hands-on creative wardrobe position for special events, filmings, and conventions. I learned so many new techniques and skills in this position, and it really helped me push myself harder within my own business.
I now live and create jewelry full-time in Plano, Texas with my husband and business partner, Jordan. We are a two-person team and we love bouncing ideas back and forth to bring out the best ideas from both of us. My business is constantly evolving as I grow and change. I find inspiration everywhere and I love hearing feedback about my newest ideas. I can't wait to see where this inspiration takes us!
